Boston: Roberts Brothers, 1890. 278pp. Crimson cloth boards, titles on spine in gold and white on front board. Lettering bright and clean. Globe design in gold on front board, with "Solidarity in Labour" on a band encircling the globe. Binding secure, corners firm, hinges solid. Slight spine lean, and a teardrop-shaped faded spot on the front board, about 2" in length. Tan and white patterened front and rear endpapers. Small tear where it appears front free endpaper was stuck to following page. Previous owner's name in ink on blank page before half-title page. Intact tissue guard between frontispiece and title page. Small brown stain (fingertip sized) on page ends of pages 17-26. Pages otherwise clean aside from slight toning. 2 pages of ads for Morris's other works after completion of text, as well as a 8 pages of Morris's writing from The Athenaeum, London. Morris's utopian novel was a libertarian response to Edward Bellamy's Looking Backward. . Author's Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo.

The store contains over 10,000 books in over 80 different subjects, and favors good used books and good literature (both hardcover and paperback) over popular books and bestsellers. Our Internet business began in 2001. Upon visiting the store, we can show and sell individual online titles upon request. Store hours are 10:00-5:30 (Tues.-Sat.) and 11:00-4:00 (Sun.). The business is run by Richard Chalfin.
