8vo, cloth dust jacket, illustrated, 209 pp. Price clipped from dj, some chips and tears to dj extremities, but in good shape overall, normal aging, and a little soiling to some page edges; otherwise very good. A nice tight and clean copy. Lord's classic story of the fate of the Titanic is one of the best works on the subject. He interviewed survivors and family members when he wrote the story, and gave the world an honest account of what happened. Made into a film in the late 1950s, which is still one of the best about the Titanic. Interestingly, Lord points out in his foreword a work of fiction called Futility, published in 1898, describes the sinking of a large ship called the Titan, in similar circumstances as the Titanic. According to Lord, both ships were "labeled unsinkable." Many years later Lord would write a follow-up to this work called The Night Lives On in 1986.
