Full leather binding elaborately decorated in gilt upper and lower boards, all edges gilt, engraved illus title page, second title page, pp viii, 280. Gift inscription second free endpaper, dated 1853. Some rubbing to spine, clean and bright, very good condition. "Night Thoughts", a series of philosophical writings in blank verse by Edward Young (1683-1765), was first published in 1742 and was enormously successful. Leather.
