Original limp brown cloth lettered and decorated with hieroglyphs in gilt. An immensely detailed guide intended for rather more than the average tourist. Contains an "Important Notice" on bakshish, which concludes: "Tourists should especially abstain from throwing money from the decks of steamers on to the landing stages or on to the bank of the Nile for the purpose of witnessing the scramble for the coins; such exhibitions are mischievous as well as degrading."Early ownership signature and what might be a shelf number on half-title page. Very good.
