Price-clipped jacket has small stain on front flap. Black & white drawings by Tom Allen. Jim's garden starts out filled with veggies, but after dogs, cats and chickens take their toll, one cabbage remains that grows and shelters all kinds of animals. Dutch born Dejong won Ibby's Hans Christian Andersen award the year this title was published -- the first American immigrant to do so.
