Signed by author on title page. John Linner is recognized as the founder of bariatric surgery - one of the two surgeons to perform a weight loss surgery for the very first time in the world in 1954. Before that, during WWII, he served the US as a Navy medical officer and ship photographer. His current book is written as and based on his own diary he kept during his service. The photographs are also from his personal archives.
