About This Item
Edinburgh and London: Mainstream Publishing, 1999. First edition. Paperback. Very Good. 6 x 9, 328 pgs, section of color photos. In their 36 foot sailboat, The Roger Henry, the author and his wife set sail in June, 1994, to spend a winter among the Inuit far above the Arctic Circle. Unexpected events occurred, which left the author alone, with the boat trapped in the ice, one hundred miles from the nearest settlement. For several months, he withstood loneliness, sudden blindness, and private demons. For this and other sailing accomplishments, the Simons received the 1997 Cruising World Award for Outstanding Seamanship. Signed by the author.
