Interesting historical narrative of the early Mormon period, presented largely through the journals and memoirs of British Americans, Mormons who migrated from or later settled in eastern Canada. Pollock uses lengthy quotes from original accounts of many early Mormons whose writings are otherwise unavailable in published form. The book is long out-of-print, received very little distribution in the US, and is only held by 3 Utah librariesUSU, Weber State, and the Church History Library. Romriell, MORMON HYPERMODERN #33. Written and compiled by Canadian Gordon Pollock, whose Ph.D. dissertation on Mormonism was published as In Search of Security: The Mormons and the Kingdom of God on Earth, 1830-1844 (New York and London: Garland Publishing, 1989) (also out-of-print and rare).
