Two volumes bound in one, of the first American edition of a complete translation of the New Testament into French. This is the translation of Louis Isaac Lemaistre de Sacy, French priest best known for his 1667 to 1696 translation of the Bible, the most widespread French Bible in the 18th century, known as the Bible de Port Royal.
8vo. Vol I: vii, 403pp; Vol II: 5- 326pp, [1]p errata. Full brown gilt calf, gilt decorations at spine; title panel rubbed. Spine chipped at ends, boards rubbed. Internally, text slightly toned, scattered fox spotting. Period signature at front end paper, Charles Drake. OCLC: 50011302.
