Oxford at the Clarendon Press, 1901. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. First and only edition edited by Carl Horstman. 'Now re-edited with fresh material from ms. and printed sources.' Uncommon, complete in two volumes. Cloth with leather to spine which is worn and rubbed, piece missing to head of volume one. Internally clean, slight wear to edge of text-block in volume one (see picture), 68-page Introduction in English, the remaining text in the original Latin. lxviii, 506pp.; 731pp. Measure 22.5cm. x 15cm. John Capgrave (1393 1464) was an English historian, hagiographer and scholastic theologian, remembered chiefly for Nova Legenda Anglie (New Reading from England). This was the first comprehensive collection of lives of the English saints. This is a heavy set (2.5kg.) and will incur considerably more overseas shipping costs.
