Edinburgh: Robert Cadell, 1843. Half-Leather. Good. Near complete set of 4 Volumes (of 5 published), each book containing several titles. Contemporary Black Calf Half-Leather Bindings with 5 Raised Bands to spines. Gilt Titles and some Gilt Decoration to spines. Cloth covered Boards with Leather Corners. Text arranged in Double Columns. Frontispiece of Vol I has an Engraved Illustration of Sir Walter seated with landscape behind. Protected by Tissue Guard. Illustrated Title Page followed by Printed Title Page dated 1843. Vol I contains; Waverley, Guy Mannering, Antiquary, Rob Roy, Old Mortality. (Leather split down right side of spine, Front hinge broiken and repaired with hinge tape). Vol II; Black Dwarf, Legend of Montrose, Heart of Mid-Lothian, Bride of Lammermoor, Ivanhoe, Monastery.(leather splitdown right side of spine and part way down left. 2 very small pieces of leather missing at lower band and bottom corner). Vol III contains: Abbot, Kenilwoth, Pirate, Fortunes of Nigel. Peveril of the Peak. Vol IV Contains: Quentin Durward, St. Ronan's Well, Redgauntlet, Highland Widow, Betrothed, Talisman, Two Drovers, My Aunt Margaret's Mirror, The Tapestried Chamber, Death of the Laird's Jock. 9 3/4" Tall. Scrapes to leather and and edge wear. No inscriptions. Pages generally in very good, clean condition, some age darkening and a few very faint spots of foxing.
