Handsome Brown Calf Half-Leather Bindings with 5 Raised Bands to spines. Gilt Titles on Red and Black Grounds in 2nd and 4th Compartments, Ornate Gilt Decoration fills the others. Brown Marbled Boards and Leather Corners. Endpapers and Page Edges Marbled. Text arranged in Double Columns. Frontispiece of Vol I has an Engraved Illustration of Sir Walter seated with landscape behind. Protected by Tissue Guard. Illustrated Title Page followed by Printed Title Page. Vol I contains; Waverley, Guy Mannering, Antiquary, Rob Roy, Old Mortality. Vol II is Missing. Vol III contains: Abbot, Kenilwoth, Pirate, Fortunes of Nigel. Peveril. Vol IV Contains: Quentin Durward, St. Ronan's Well, Redgauntlet, Highland Widow, Betrothed, Talisman, Two Drovers, My Aunt Margaret's Mirror, The Tapestried Chamber, Death of the Laird's Jock. Vol V Contains; Woodstock, Fair Maid of Perth, Anne of Geierstein, Count Robert of Paris, The Surgeon's Daughter, Castle Dangerous and Glossary. 9 3/4" Tall. Slight rubbing to boards and some edge wear. Previous owner's name and original Gift inscription, dated 1855 on free endpapers. Pages generally in very good, clean condition, some age darkening and a few very faint spots of foxing. Set weighs 6 Kilos so Shipping outside UK will be extra.
