NY: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1944. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Good. VG/Good First Edition with Scribner's "A". A tremendous copy with just a hint of shelfwear. Square and tight. Interiors crisp, clean and unmarked. Clipped DJ has chipping, short tears, shelfwear. 5.25" x 7.5", 233 pages. The author was in France during the Nazi invasion and remained in Paris during the first 7 months of the German occupation. In 1942 he was arrested in Marseilles and imprisoned in Baden-Baden, Germany. The author believes this book is the only English language novel written in a German internment camp. Very collectible.
