About This Item

Methuen & Co Ltd, 1927. 1st Edition. Hardcover. VG/VG-. SHEPARD, Ernest H.. 1st Edition. 12.5 x 19.3 cm dark red cloth with gilt stamped vignette and border to the front, vignette to the rear and titles to the spine. Top edge gilt, pink pictorial endpapers, x,103[1]pp, with black and white illustrations by Ernest Shepard throughout. Clean, bright, unfaded boards with a touch of rubbing to the spine tips and corners, a little fading at the spine tips and pushing to the corners. At the top of the back board there are slight unobtrusive marks where a few drips have been brushed off, but can only really be seen at a certain angle in the light. Internally clean, without name, inscription or bookplate and just a hint of toning/acid migration to the free endpapers where the jacket flaps don'treach. The dust jacket which is now protected in a removable, clear cover (not shown) is lightly dust marked with toning to the spine which extends to a lesser extent for about 2 cm onto the front panel - it looks much worse in our images than in reality. There is rubbing to the spine tips and corners with minimal loss to the corners and loss to the head of the spine to a maximum of 0.8 cm and affecting the word "Now" in the title. This loss extends round onto the front and rear panels for 1cm. There are three small chips at the foot of the spine, two are minute and the other is a chip of 0.8 x 0.3 cm. There is a little creasing to the top edge of the rear panel and a couple of tiny nicks on the top and bottom edges. Rainford & Parris Books welcomes enquiries, so please do not hesitate to ask if you require further images or have any questions. All books are packaged with great care.
