About This Item
Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 1956. First edition of Hulme's best-selling novel, basis for the classic film starring Audrey Hepburn. Octavo, original cloth. Fine in a very good dust jacket. Jacket design by Samuel Bryant. Based partly upon the experiences of the author's friend, Marie Louise Habets of the Sisters of Charity of Jesus and Mary, The Nun's Story chronicles the life of a nun who finds her faith tested in a remote Congo hospital. The novel was adapted into a film of the same name directed by Fred Zinnemann and starring Audrey Hepburn. It was a critical and box office success, and Hepburn was nominated for an Academy Award for the third time.
