Hardback. Omega Books Limited. UK. 1985. Hardback with dj. First thus. Facsimile of the 1890 edition with twenty of John Tenniel's colour illustrations. The dj is very good. Clean, glossy and with good edges and tips. Price clipped. Boards are green cloth covered with gilt title to spine. Very good with a little rub to edges and tips. Contents: there is a prize bookplate to front and at the back, rear of back board, a school stamp with a letter. Paper covering rear of boards is slightly rubbed to top and bottom. No writing in text etc. Overall a solid copy, lightly read. Could be added to collectors of the variants of the 'Alice' books.
Synopsis
The Nursery "Alice" is a shortened version of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, adapted by the author himself for children "from nought to five" with twenty of Tenniel's illustrations from the original book coloured and enlarged. It was first published in 1890 by Macmillan, 25 years after the original Alice, and featured a new cover illustrated by E. Gertrude Thomson, who was a good friend of Dodgson.
