New York: Wm. A. Pond, 1869. Wonderful large lithographed sheet music cover with portrait of Cyrus W. Field, with diagram of his invention, the trans Atlantic telegraph cable above, and sailing ships below the portrait. The March, by Francis H. Brown, celebrates the laying of the cable.

Cyrus West Field (1819-1892) and the Atlantic Telegraph Company laid the first transatlantic telegraph cable. The project began in 1854 and was completed in 1858.
