Mexico: American Star Print. Very Good. 1848. First Printing. Softcover. In original printed wrappers with a lithographic plan of the battles of Mexico. No errata sheet. [24pp]. Wraps have moderate soiling and light wear to edges; text block has minor foxing. This publication provides a detailed look at the actions and fates of officers under General Winfield Scott in the Mexican-American War. The text includes officers' names, corps, dates of when and where employed, and remarks. Some big names in U. S. military history are seen here: Robert E. Lee, P.G.T. Beauregard, U.S. Grant, Stonewall Jackson and many others. On the inside of the rear wrap is an extract of Scott's report summarizing his losses and his extent of victory over the Mexican Army. Howes notes that this publication was "printed on the occupying army's own press" (Howes S243). No copies found in commerce as of July 2021. ; Large 8vo 9" - 11" tall .
