A fairly crisp copy, but fore-edge cropped close, shaving a small amount of text on pp. 5-8 still readable. Howes J11. Cohen 13619 - "An anti-Jackson campaign document, comprising a reprint, with commentary, of the documents published in the same year as House Report no. 140, 20th Congress, 1st session under title: Tennessee militiamen." The two presidential campaigns pitting John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson are considered to be among the dirtiest in American history. Jackson's character was the principal target of the anti-Jackson forces and the present incident, dating from 1815 in the War of 1812, together with the alleged adultery of Andrew and Rachel Jackson in the early 1790's, were their principal weapons. The campaign worked in 1824 but failed this time around.
