About This Item
Ohio Wesleyan University Yearbook,, The Bijou, 1895. The Cleveland Printing and Publishing Co: Cleveland, Ohio. Class yearbook. 10" x 7" inches. 279 pages. Front board ⅓ red with red floral design extending decoratively onto black background with "The Bijou '95" entwined in the design. Yearbook includes student and faculty photos, campus and classroom views, student literature, rosters for various committees and organizations as well as other class memorabilia. Students are pictured in groups by class or club, a comprehensive look at the student body and faculty. One student text titled, "The Corn Field" written and illustrated by an Edward T. Miller is a satirical take on higher education from the character of a corn farmer, one passage reading "But you college students will learn in the course of a year or so, there are things not in them books that'll be mighty handy to know--some things old nature'll teach you, when y'come to shockin' your row." The yearbook is a charming testament to the boisterous class spirit at the time. A souvenir for students to remember their time together. Small crack to front hinge has loosened text block slightly. Scuffing on front cover. Textblock clean. Overall good condition.
