Internals as new. Illustrated with journal drawings from original diaries and letters and contemporary recollections. An account of postwar book buying abroad by the "Holmes and Watson" of antiquarian books. They went to Europe after the war to buy old books--as Americans were flocking to Europe for European culture, food and art. There are detailed tales of their trips between 1947 and 1957, filled with steamships, cobbled streets, dusty rare book shops. Those were the days. 175 pages, indexed. 9.4 x 6 inches. 1996, Oak Knoll Press, New Castle, Delaware.
