About This Item
New York: Munro's Publishing House, 1893. Soft cover. Good. Staple-bound in printed wraps. Some edge tattering, mostly due to the inexpert opening of the leaves. One page has the word "end" penciled twice on it, otherwise unmarked and generally clean. 30 pp. 10.25 x 7.25 inches. The story is set in Chicago upon the advent of the Chicago World's Fair of 1893, which opened on May 1st, a few days after the publishing of this issue of the Old Cap. Collier Library. Anthony Paschall Morris, Jr. (1849-1921) lived and worked in Chicago, roughly between the years 1885 and 1895, and then moved to the Bay Area in California. He was a descendant of the influential Morris family of Philadelphia, wealthy Quaker colonists who were prominent in Pennsylvania's civic and business life.
