Original grey paper wraps with titles in green to the spine and front panel and a colour illustration plate to the front panel. Illustrated with 5 colour plates by Brock. With the publisher's Christmas greetings slip loosely laid in. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the paper lightly toned and creased, with two very light marks to the front panel and three tiny marks to the rear panel. The contents, with light spotting to the prelims and Christmas greetings slip, are otherwise clean throughout and without stamps or inscriptions. A short Christmas story by Washington Irving, who has been credited by some for popularising traditional Christmas celebrations in the United States.
