About This Item

Leeds: The Yorkshire Post, 1889. First edition. Cloth. Good. 8.5" by 6". Tom Bradley . A first edition of this illustrated volume on stage-coach travel in Yorkshire. Published by the Yorkshire weekly post, this illustrated first edition provides a delightful record of old Yorkshire coaching days. Stagecoach travel was disappearing by the 1840s, and this work was intended as a record of old Yorkshire coaching times before their complete extinction. Comprised of expanded versions articles published in the newspaper, the work enumerates various routes in county and the exploits of the men who used its roads. With an advert for a piano shop in Leeds between the front endpaper and the title pate. With four pages of publisher's adverts to the rear. In the publisher's original green cloth binding with pictorial boards. Externally, generally smart. Lightly rubbed to the boards with a small smudge of white paint to the front board. Bumped to the head and tail of the spine, with a small closed tear to the cloth at the head. The joints are a little rubbed. The front and rear hinges are starting, and are a little tender. Internally, firmly bound. Aside from the endpapers which are rather age-toned, pages are bright and clean throughout. Good
