B T Batsford, London, 1912. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Very large volume with black covers with ornate gilt decoration and lettering. Gilt is slightly tarnished in places. Spine ends and corners are lightly bumped. Spine is sunned to brown, rear cover is lightly rubbed. Sound binding with decorative dark pink end-papers. Reverse of end-papers are foxed. Crisp clean pages including frontis and decorated title. Clean plates. Foxing on last page of Subscribers List and first page of Preface. Attached dark blue silk page marking ribbon. Many black and white clean, crisp engravings, photogravure plates, vignette photographs, diagrams and illustrations. Packed weight approx. 6kg.
