[1-8], 9-99pp, [3] + [6]pp publisher's ads; navy glazed cloth over board, blind-stamped border, gilt-stamped lettering on front and spine; untrimmed fore and bottom edge; 16 b&w photographic illustrated plates; light spotting on spine with color loss, diffuse light foxing; very good plus. John Masefield (1878-1967) was the poet laureate of England, and possibly most famous to Americans for his ballad-poem Sea Fever published in 1902. In this book he explores the start of the Battle of the Somme in WWI, fought by the armies of Great Britain and France against the Germans.
