This is the first illustrated edition of this work, featuring coloured vignette to title page and seven full page plates in colour by Howard Chandley Christy, American artist and illustrator known for the famous 'Christy Girl'. Collated, complete.Written by Thomas Nelson Page, American lawyer, politician, and writer. In the original publisher's full cloth binding with decorative gilt to front board and spine, titles in gilt to paper vellum front board label and to spine. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only, light bumping to head and tail of spine, paper vellum to front board with some spotting as usual. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
