There is significant wear to the binding, which is heavily rubbed along all edges and especially along the spine. The spine is sunned and beginning to fray at the edges. Cover cloth is worn thin in several places. The outer edges of the text block are heavily toned. Hinges are secure. Illustrated with eight plates. There is foxing to the illustrations pages and pages adjacent to the illustration. Text is toned but otherwise clean and sound. Collates complete with all illustrations.

Hardcover bound in original blue publisher's cloth with spine titles in gilt and cover designs in blind. The binding is worn and bumped and has some fraying and tearing at the spine ends. A couple of nicks on the spine are touched up with blue. A sound copy with secure inner hinges. Appears to have two identical facsimile title pages tipped in (consequently lacking the original title; the frontis is NOT in facsimile). The text has some moderate foxing throughout. An early owner's blind stamped name is on the first page of the text. There is a folding newspaper article pasted onto the rear pastedown.
