ELIOT with original dust jacket. 1939 early American edition (lacking "first American edition" statement on the copyright, and no code indicating a publication year other than 1939); Harcourt, Brace and Company; New York. From the dust jacket: "Mr. T.S. Eliot's intimate friends receive from time to time typewritten verses which are apparently anonymous but which are always identifiable. The poems which concern cats are presented here." There are 14 cat poems in all - please see the photos for the complete list. The book was the basis of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical "CATS."

Condition:
There is foxing along the edges of the covers; the front cover has pink-ish stain at the bottom edge; sharp corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Nice interior - the text pages are clean and nearly appear unread with no issues found. Light foxing along the gutter between the front pastedown and end paper. The front end paper has a name/date (1952) written in pen at the top edge. Overall the book is in Very Good- condition. Light soiling to the edges of the covers and flaps, and to the spine; the price has been clipped from the front flap. Overall the dust jacket is in Very Good- condition.
