Ltd, 1921 A fair copy of the 1st edition in the original decorative cloth with tipped-in frontispiece, 5 further tipped-in plates, 25 full page black and white illustrations and numerous illustrations in the text. The red cloth binding has gilt titles and decoration to front board and spine. There are faded patches to the bottom of both boards and wear to corners with some fraying. The spine ends are pulled with some fraying. Light wear to spine joints. Top page edges reddened. There is a slightly smudged signature to the fep dated Christmas 1922. Contents are shaken, with stitching visible at pp 33 and 97. They are generally clean with sporadic light foxing and some marking. The plate at p 16 has a crease and the plate at p 99 has a crease in the plate margin not affecting the image. Some spotting to foredge.
