Pages are moderately tanned and foxed throughout. Newspaper clippings stuck to front endpapers. Thumb-marking present. Minor dog-eared corners. Noticeable creasing to gutter. Cracking to hinges and gutters, leaving netting exposed. Front and rear boards are loose but still attached. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Heavy crushing to spine ends. Significant tanning to spine and edges. Splits to spine. Water staining to boards. Marks and scratches overall. Textblock is shaky.

ASSUMED FIRST EDITION. Dated 1885. Published by Hamilton Adams. Hardback.Tissue guarded frontispiece and title page. Very Good clean book with no inscriptions. On the front endpapers the spine is cracking but still holding true. The blue boards are decorated in gilt with gilt lettering. Corners and spine ends are slightly frayed, spine is somewhat faded. Some small stains on the rear boards. A rare book in lovely condition.
