From the Preface: "The following work has been undertaken not so much in the hope of adding anything new to what is already known of the culture of the vine, as with a view to collect the scattered information which exists on the subject in periodicals and Kindred works as well as amongst practical men, and to throw it into such a shape as may prove useful to the amateur and the vine-dresser."

Condition:
Clean front cover and spine; the back cover has a few thin, light scuff lines. Small cloth tears at 3 of the cover corners. Tiny cloth tears at the top and bottom edges of the spine. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. Mild foxing to the text pages with an occasional light stain and smudge. Overall the book is in Very Good- condition.
