London: Williams and Norgate Ltd, 1939. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Good plus. Tan buckram over boards, title stamped in gilt onto spine, top edge stained black, 8vo (8-1/2 inches tall), pp, xii, 164, [165-292, large section of B&W plates]. First edition with page "16" mis-numbered as "6", price "10s 6d" at bottom of front flap (the second edition has "12s 6d") and "FIRST PUBLISHED IN GREAT BRITAIN IN 1939" stated on copyright page. Volume slightly bowed with spine ends softened, light taps to corners and foxing to text edges and prelims, short gift insc. to front pastedown. Heavy paper DJ is rubbed with edge wear, soil and fade to spine. Contains the first publication for the general public of the suppressed introductory chapter of SEVEN PILLARS OF WISDOM and 129 photos taken by Lawrence. Ref. O'Brien, A220.
