About This Item
Canada: The Canadian Press, 1984. Fine. Original B&W contact sheet press photo (4-1/4 inches tall x 2-1/8 inches wide) titled "Ilith Ramirez Sanchez / International terrorist, Carlos (CP Photo) 1-84 (ap)". Sides unevenly trimmed, else fine. A circa 1970's photo of 'Carlos The Jackal', known for his brazen attacks and elusive tactics. "For years, Carlos The Jackal was known only via a handful of hazy black-and-white photos. [this being one of them] But the fall of Communism in 1989 spelled the end of his career, and Ramirez fled to Sudan, where he was captured by French agents [who] whisked him out of Sudan in a sack... the flamboyant terrorist and self-proclaimed revolutionary once one of the Cold War's most wanted men [has] been jailed since 1994." AP: L. Hinnant and G. Keller (2013).
