About This Item

7 april 1862. 4 x 5 inches, in fine condition. From the autograph book compiled by Hugh Welch Diamond (1809-1886), "the father of psychiatric photography". Rare. Edward Kater (1816-1866), photographer. He joined the Calotype Club in the 1840s, becoming a vice president of the Photographic Society when it was formed. In 1852 Kater’s “Proof of the Value of Photography to the Archaeologist” appeared in Notes and Queries.
