About This Item

London: John Murray, 1965 Orlando and the three kittens go off to Mr. Cattermole’s Magic Shop for Cats to buy their Christmas presents. Tinkle* stays outside to play in the snow and it is not until they are home again that he remembers that he has no presents for anybody. He decides to give Orlando the square box that the presents were packed in as it will be a change from curling up in a hat-box. Pansy and Blanche can have his pet spider, and when his parents give him a conjuring set, he finds two bottles marked 'Spell' and 'Dispell'. A bottle of scent is just the thing for his mother. Grace, when she sees it on her dressing-table, can hardly wait to spray herself?with astonishing results. Orlando and the kittens are dismayed suddenly to see three Graces instead of one. Orlando had only one wife, the kittens only one mother and now they have three. They are very alarmed and even the vet has never known a case like it. There is only one thing to do, Orlando says, they must go to Santa Claws for help. So they set off on Fatima, the magic carpet, with the three Graces and all their presents, which they cannot bear to leave behind. They fly away on their desperate adventure and this exciting and amusing story has an unexpected and happy ending to what might have been a terrible catastrophe. BOOK is tidy enough, has a small paper pocket and library stamp to inside paste down, MAY LACK a title, first leaf is blank fly ( with library stamps), next leaf beingpp 3&4 with black and white title at the head of the first page of the story text( small library stamp at foot) pp4 has library acquisition number stamp, last page at rear is page 30 this also has a stamp and a little offset tape rust, I believe this to be complete but you may want to check against another copy or a bibliography?, boards rubbed to edges, minor tape ghosts to edges of boards, small call number to spine, split at lower part of upper joint, spine fragile paper, price clipped DW is in tidy condition with tape rust to the vertical edges of the fold in flaps and a small call number to the spine, two small patches lifted from the top edge of the rear panel, A TIDY DUSTWRAPPER on a good only book, (500 grams) .
