Juan Prim y Prats, 1st Marques de los Castillejos was a Catalan-Spanish general and statesman born at Reus, 1814, who spent a significant time in exile due to his pro-democratic views. He was briefly Prime Minister of Spain during the short reign of King Amadeo I, being shot upon leaving the chamber of the Cortes on 28 December 1870. He died two days later.José Paúl y Angulo (Jerez de la Frontera, 1842-París, 1892) was a Spanish politician and writer. From a wealthy family, he first met General Prim in London. Elected deputy to the Cortes from Jerez de la Frontera in 1869, after 1871, he spent most of the rest of his life in exlile, in Perú, Ecuador, Chile the United States, and Paris, settling for a good part of the time in Argentina.The translator was a bookseller and publisher, who edited several periodical publications.*** Not in Gonçalves Rodrigues, A tradução em Portugal.
