Zurich, Switzerland: Diogenes Verlag AG, 1972. Book. Fine. Soft cover. First Edition Thus. 16mo - over 5¾ - 6¾" tall. Small paper bound volume in string-tied illustrated tan wrappers. Unpaginated (32 pages). Illustrated throughout on rectos only with drawings by Gorey. The first English trade edition, one of 7 volumes comprising The Vinegar Works. The original English edition was published in a limited edition of 500 by the Fantod Press in 1970. The story of a friendship between a man and a bird, told and illustrated in Gorey's unique and macabre style. Neat previous owner's name on upper edge of inside cover. Else an exceptionally well preserved copy, like new. Fine. Not in Toledano. .
