About This Item

New York: Cosmopolitan Book Corporation, 1931. First American Edition. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Very Good/Fair-. 8vo. Pp. 240, [1]. Title page printed in black and blue. Bound in tan cloth with red and blue lettering and decoration on front board and spine. Spine a trifle cocked, first three leaves with minor crease from dog-ear, former owner name on front pastedown. In the illustrated dust jacket with amateur cello-tape repairs to fold between front panel and spine, and head and tail of spine, where chipping has occurred. A periodical review of the novel by Henry Walcott Boynton is laid-in. The art-deco dust jacket design by Jung is a charming depiction of two women, the wife and "the other" standing their ground in front of the distant husband-lover. Boynton's review concludes, "its effect comes from its simplicity, its effortless action, and the something indefinable that belongs to the touch of genius." Dust jacket is now enclosed in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
