London: His Majesty's Stationery Office, 1918. Very Good +. 24 p.; 33 cm. Stapled. "Miscellaneous. No. 7 (1918)." The report by the Government Committee on Treatment by the Enemy of British Prisoners of War was presented by its chair, Robert Younger, Baron Blanesburgh (1861-1946). The committee concluded that British prisoners of war had been subjected to "unjustifiable suffering" by the German Army, which had completely failed to follow its own regulations. In Very Good+ Condition: staples are rusting; exterior pages are slightly soiled; light creasing; otherwise, clean and solid.

London, 1857., 1857.. Very good. - Robert Rolfe, 1st Baron Cranworth's signature at the bottom left of a 3 inch high by 5 inch wide clipping from an envelope. "PAID 1857" with the royal crown is stamped in red at top right and partially overlaps the address penned in an unknown hand. The autograph is mounted with glue from the verso onto a larger sheet of heavier stock clipped from an album. Very good. The British lawyer and Liberal politician Robert Monsey Rolfe, 1st Baron Cranworth (1790-1868) represented Peryn and Falmouth in Parliament before being appointed a Baron of the Exchequer in 1839. He was appointed Lord High Chancellor in 1852 serving under Lord Aberdeen's coalition ministry and subsequently that of Lord Palmerston. He was not immediately reappointed following Lord Palmerston's resignation in 1858 but accepted the office again after Lord Westbury's retirement in 1865, serving under the Russell administration.

31, Great George Street, March 5, 1866., 1866.. Very good. - Over 30 words penned on both sides of 7 inch high by 4-1/2 inch wide creamy white paper. The first page of the letter is framed by black mourning borders. William Wood, 1st Baron Hatherley writes to apologize as he "cannot leave my court". Signed "W.P. Wood". Folded for mailing, the letter was once mounted into an album with paper remnants still adhering to the bottom edge of the verso. A previous owner has identified the author as "Vice Chancellor Wood, now Lord Chancellor (Hatherley)". Good.Together with William Wood's autograph signed "Hatherley" on 1-1/8 inch high by 2-1/8 inch wide creamy white paper with his monograph printed in green at the top.
