About This Item

Wichita, KS: Board of Education of USD 259, 1977 Board of Education of USD 259, Wichita, KS. 1977. Hardcover. First Edition. Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: Fine. DJ: VG; NOT Price Clipped ($9.50); moisture wrinkling to cover at spine; several small closed tears. Green cloth boards and spine with bright gilt lettering on spine and front board. Errata Sheet laid in; 466 pp 8vo. The story of the Wichita Public Schools goes from the second story of the New York Store in December 1870 to the present where there are 109 school buildings throughout the city. Wichita's school history is full of human drama: race and sex discrimination, alleged extortion, public pressure, teacher protest and controversial programs. It is above all the story of a total concern by teachers, by administrators, and the community for the education of children and adults. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket.
