Garden City: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1958. Fascinating memoir of James Joyce in Dublin and Paris by two leading lights of the Celtic Revival. An important book for all who wish to know more about Joyce the man and the background/inspiration for his characters. Padraic Colum himself was an important poet and playwright, a founder of the Abbey Theatre; later he was an American academic and editor. This is a Very Good (Plus) to Near Fine copy of the First American Edition (stated First Edition), which precedes the English issue. Light greenish-blue binding with silver titling on the spine. Clean text; 239 pages. There is rubbing to the head of the spine, which is lightly faded; some rub to the corners, but they remain square. The dustjacket is unclipped; light chipping along the edges; spine darkened. In an archival plastic protector.. First American Edition.. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
