About This Item
Bodley Head London, 1918 RARE signed and dated copy of this very scarce and utterly wonderful book. Signed in pencil by the author and dated 1918 on the illustrated half title. The rhymes alternate with full page illustrations, very stylish and typical of the period, witty and very aesthetic. They are lithographed in red, brown and white. Very good cover boards, firm brown spine cloth with gilt titles, rear board decorated with woman window cleaner. The front board has a milkmaid and titles in brown and red. The book is firmly bound. The inside of the book is brilliantly illustrated, a fabulous example of the period style. No wrapper, but I don't know if one was issued. Considering the age this is a superb collectable WW1 piece.
