1. Inscribed to a writer by an important Mormon (LDS) writer and historian, ""To D. C. Retsloff, San Diego, CA. Compliments of Edward H. Anderson. Editor Improvement Era, Salt Lake City, 1920""; Published by Deseret News. 1909 on title page. Seven Illustrations. Green cloth w. gilt to top edge, spine and cover lettering. Attractive book w. ribbon marker. Spine and corner tips lightly rubbed. Bottoms of first few pages with light dampstain in margin only, regressing from foredge 5/8"" max. One side of blank rear endpaper has larger stain. Otherwise clean, tight and bright. Lambourne was a notable Mormon writer and early Utah artist. He built and lived in a cabin on Gunnison Island in the Great Salt Lake for nine months. A lone inhabitant on the island from November 1895 until March when the first group of international guano sifters arrived. Describes plants, animal life, geology, interesting characters and more.
