London: Neville Spearman, 1955. Early Reprint. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Very Good/Very Good+. EB. Small 8vo. Pp. ix, 100. Introduction by Alan W. Mitchell.Afterword by Nigel Palethorpe. Frontis. photo portrait of the author. Illustrated with reproductions of family photos. Bound in black cloth with gilt lettering stamped on spine. Boards a tad splayed; offsetting to endpapers. A handsome copy in the illustrated dust jacket with spine faded, price of 7/6 intact on front flap. First published 1946, this brief memoir by the New Zealand author was published posthumously. A Rhodes Scholar, a rugby injury led to a leg amputation; nevertheless, Guthrie served in WWII with distinction. The accomplished dust jacket illustration that graces this edition, by "EB," is a spare landscape-seascape done in a modernistic style of the era.
