Boston: Allyn and Bacon, 1948. 4to size pictorial cloth bound hardcover with two color illustration on spine and front cover. 383 pages with black and white photographs throughout followed by a nine page index. Illustrated endpapers (which is not done in children's textbooks any more) and some vintage maps. From book: "Geography is no mere dull listing of peoples, places, and products. It is alive, rich, and colorful, dealing with real people living on a real earth. The authors have endeavored to communicate this spirit to the pupils by vivid descriptions in simple language, keeping in mind the main objective of all geography work, which is to teach pupils how to see things with geographic eyes and think in geographical terms..." Contents include: The British Commonwealth of Nations Africa The Fringe of Europe Western Europe Central Europe The Baltic Countries Russia The Balkans Ex-school textbook from Elbow Lake Public Schools (Minnesota) marked Discard and appears to have not circulated as borrower block is blank. Edgewear; bumped and worn corners; bumped head and heel of spine. We noted four pages with stains in the margins. Covers are firmly attached via cloth pastedowns, an usual technique, but binding feels loose. . Cloth. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
