About This Item
Calais, VT: Z Press. Fine. 1999. Limited Edition. Softcover. Jagged and surreal, this is a single poem by Barbara Guest, poet prominent of the New York School. She drew inspiration from fine artists, and this is an artistic collaboration with painter Trevor Winkfield, brought about by publisher Kenward Elmslie. Tipped in, facing the poem, is a polychrome reproduction of a print by the artist. Winkfield, known for his spare designs and choices of color, collaborated with several New York School poets in illustrating their printed works. Number four in a series of author/artist collaborations designed by Z Press founder and publisher Kenward Elmslie and C. W. Swets. Swets was a printing assistant and companion of Elmslie, and a noted printer and publisher in his own right. This is one of a limited edition of 200 copies. Set in Bembo type. Wraps are Fabriano mould made paper. Pages are watermarked Zerkall mould made paper. Printed by The Grenfell Press, New York, NY.
