Description:
Victoria, B.C.: Charles F. Banfield, Printer to the King, 1931. Hardcover. good to very good. 1st Edition. xiii,174pp. + [2]pp.pp. Octavo. Original beige linen cloth with beveled edges, uncut. Frontispiece. 22 illustrations throughout the text. Hinges reinforced with a small amount of cloth tape. Bookplate on the front-down paste paper and inscription in ink on the front free-end paper. good to very good Lowther 1734. Based primarily on five diaries from some of the original 150 pioneers who made their way west across the Prairies and Rockies to the Caribou. The front paste down paper has a wonderful bookplate belonging to Alma M. Russell. The front-free end paper also has a contemporary inscription from the provincial librarian, called John Hosie, addressed to 'Miss A. M. Russell,' to whom the bookplate belongs. Overall, this is a superb copy in very good condition. The cloth tape was professionally applied and does not detract from the beauty of this book. 1931
