Octavo; oatmeal-colored buckram, with titles stamped in blue and gilt on spine; blue topstain; dustjacket; 309pp. Topstain faded, lower corners gently tapped, with staining to joints and pastedowns from binders glue, and some faint, scattered foxing to boards; Very Good+. Dustjacket is unclipped, lightly edgeworn, with some shallow chipping to spine ends and corners, short edge tears, and a tiny puncture to spine panel; Very Good+. The author's first novel, a searing and realistic portrait of life and mob violence in the American west. Basis for the Oscar-nominated William Wantling film (1943) starring Henry Fonda and Dana Andrews.
