Columbia,MO: State Historical Society of Missouri, 1946. This is the complete first printings of this important collection. 4 volumes dated between 1946 and 1950. The set belonged to Fred Hellerman, one of the 4 founding members of the Weavers, a folksinging group that recorded such favorites as "Good Night Irene," "On Top of Old Smokey," and many other songs that set the stage for the folk revival in the 1960's and 1970's. Hellerman's stamped name and address is in each volume and there are some notations in the volumes in his hand. The books are tight and very usuable, in better than Good condition, with only some darkening of the spines to bring the condition to Good. The spine and front cover titles are clear and quite readable.His stamped address at 15 West 11th Street in Manhattan was, incidentatlly, right across the street from the building that exploded when the Weather Underground was trying to construct a bomb in 1970.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No Dust Jacket. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
